Dr Mohit Adlakha is an Optometrist with focus on primary eyecare. He earned his BSc from University of Ontario Institute of Technology, followed by his Doctor of Optometry from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. He is licensed by the College of Optometrists of Ontario and certified to prescribe Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents in Canada. Dr. Adlakha is passionate about providing comprehensive eye care to his patients and serving the community.
2. What's your favourite part of working in optometry?
My favourite part of working in optometry is providing high quality eyecare to my patients that brings a change in their life whether it is from just correction with glasses or catching an ocular or even a systemic disease that would end up saving their lives and vision.
3. What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing tennis and golf and trying out different types of cuisines.
4. What's the most important thing we should know about eye health?
I am a big advocate about raising awareness about eye health which leads to preventative care. One thing we should know about eye health is that certain eye diseases do not show signs of vision changes until the disease has progressed such as glaucoma or retinal holes, hence it is importance to get your eyes checked even if your vision feels fine.
5. Lastly - which OQ lenses are your fave?
My favourite OQ lenses are Avulux lenses which are used to reduce migraines. As up to 60% of migraine attacks are triggered by light. These lenses work by absorbing painful wavelengths of light in blue, amber and red spectrum while allowing soothing green light hence reducing migraines.
